Part of preventing emergency care is making sure you maintain those regular thorough dental check-ups to keep an eye on the health of everything. Minor, non-emergency situations handled in appropriate ways can prevent after-hour toothaches from developing. Patients who let their mouth go, are putting their overall health at risk of higher incidences of heart attack, stroke, diabetes or even possibly pre-term labor for pregnant women. What happens in your mouth can affect your entire overall health!

We have found that when patients get the needed care at the appropriate time, they are significantly less likely to have any unexpected dental emergencies. But, if it does happen, we will be here for you!

Some things that may be considered minor emergencies include a chipped filling, short-lived temperature sensitivity, a lose crown or a temporary that has popped off. A true emergency might be trauma to the mouth causing a tooth to pop out or become so loose you can’t close down without hitting on it. Other true emergencies might be bleeding after a surgery that won’t stop in a reasonable time frame, a broken in half denture, a tooth broken off at the gumline- exposing the root, or swelling that seems to be getting larger by the hour.  Please do not hesitate to call us if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms. We are here for you. We can help you determine if it is a true emergency requiring urgent care or simply something we should schedule soon.
